Leading Technology for the NetWare market since 1989!
Initially founded in 1989 as Meyer & Associates to provide consulting
services in network design, installation, and support to large network
sites in the East Bay / San Francisco area.
After a brief period consulting and some additional market research,
it became apparent that a lack of mature management utilities existed
for the evolving NetWare LAN market.
Having developed for Datapoint's ARCNET (Attached Resource Computing
NETwork) since the early 80's, as well as having been a Beta site for
both Novell and SMC in their early days, expertise in the design,
use, and value of such utilities was readily available in-house.
As a result, focus shifted from consulting to the development of
management utilities designed for the Novell NetWare platform.
In 1991, operations relocated to Austin, TX and the company was
incorporated as avanti technology, inc.
Much of avanti's early technology was subsequently licensed to
XTree and became an integral part of their Tools for Networks product.
Additional technology was developed for or incorporated into
products from 3Com (SNMP MIB for NetWare),
Central Point (NetWare utilities),
and Command Software
(the first Anti-Virus NLM engine which did not patch the NetWare
kernel, preceding Novell's release of File Hooks technology).
Current Products!
avanti's current products continue to evolve as a result of this
vision and expertise:
-
TaskMaster
Originally intended as just a
Server Task Scheduler & Batch Processor utility for NetWare Servers,
it was released in 1994 with reviewers and editors immediately
applauding its capabilities, as well as recognizing its potential, and
suggesting that Novell consider bundling it with NetWare.
It continues to evolve into the pre-eminent NetWare Server management
utility, incorporating features of products Novell has since
discontinued or does not officially support.
-
NodeMaster
A quick and easy solution for monitoring / managing Connections and
Open Files, as well as tracking and logging Connection activity,
on NetWare Servers.
Previous Products!
avanti's previous products have benefitted from this vision
and expertise:
-
NConsole (1993 - 2002)
One of the PC Magazine's "Best Products of 1995",
it provided real-time statistical monitoring, baseline sampling,
historial trending, and alert notification for NetWare Servers.
-
NodeInfo (1993 - 2001)
The original Windows-based connection monitoring and
open file management utility for NetWare Servers.
-
NetScope (1991 - 1992)
The first real-time protocol analyzer designed specifically for
NetWare which automatically isolated and traced NCP/SPX errors on
ARCNET, Ethernet, and Token Ring networks.
-
NetAlarm (1988 - 1992)
One of the first monitoring and alerting utilities for NetWare Servers.
(Licensed to XTree: Foundation for XTree Tool for Networks.)
-
NetTrack (1988 - 1992)
The first baseline sampling / trending utility for NetWare Servers.
(Licensed to XTree: Foundation for XTree Tool for Networks.)

avanti has received the praise of editors from
PC Magazine, InfoWorld, LAN Magazine, LAN Times, and numerous other
magazines (some no longer in circulation),
plus the respect of thousands of users worldwide.
Every review has proclaimed that our utilities solve common Server
Management problems and are second to none in value and support.
Words like indispensible, invaluable, amazing,
and bargain are frequently chosen by reviewers when describing
our products.
The Future!
Although the last few years have raised many questions as to Novell's
future, we have never been more confident in our platform of choice.
avanti plans to continue its leadership role in the development
of Server Management utilities supporting Novell's NetWare Server
platforms, with the best yet to come.
While many companies (large and small) have entered (and exited) the
NetWare market, based upon market popularity and rumors at the time,
avanti remains committed to supporting the NetWare platform and
we are proud to be regarded as a leading provider of NetWare management
solutions.
